Melynda Dwi Puspita, Jakarta – Bank Indonesia (BI) has extended the grace period for credit card bill payments until Wednesday, December 31, 2025. This prolongs a relief policy previously set to expire on Monday, June 30, 2025.

"Extension of the Bank Indonesia's national clearing system (SKNBI) tariff and credit card policy until December 31, 2025," announced BI Governor Perry Warjiyo during a virtual Monthly Board of Governors Meeting press conference on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.

BI Governor explained that this relief policy includes several key provisions for credit card holders. The minimum payment limit has been reduced to 5 percent of the total bill, down from the previous 10 percent. Additionally, the late payment penalty limit is now capped at 1 percent of the total bill, not exceeding Rp100,000.

Alongside the credit card measures, BI also extends the SKNBI tariff, which remains at Rp1 from BI to banks. For customers, the SKNBI tariff from banks is capped at a maximum of Rp2,900.

Perry expressed hope that these policies would support private consumption, particularly among households. He added, "Also, [we aim] to continue strengthening policy synergy with the government to maintain stability and encourage economic growth in line with the government's Astacita program."

Furthermore, Perry said that BI is committed to strengthening policy synergy with the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) to ensure financial system stability. BI also plans to expand international cooperation with other central banks, focusing on payment system connectivity and local currency transactions. This includes efforts to "facilitate the conduct of investment and trade promotion in priority sectors, in collaboration with relevant agencies," Perry concluded.
