Lusa – The President of Timor-Leste, Jos Ramos-Horta, began a private visit to Malaysia on Tuesday, from where he will travel to Monaco for a working visit to promote regional cooperation and strengthen international partnerships.
"Malaysia has been a staunch friend of Timor-Leste since our struggle for independence, and this visit reinforces our partnership within the family of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations," said Jos Ramos-Horta, quoted in a press release issued by the Timorese Presidency.
According to the Presidency, during his stay in Kuala Lumpur until Sunday, the head of state will participate in the launch of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's book at an academic event and a lunch with Taylor's University leaders.
From Malaysia, Jos Ramos-Horta will travel to Monaco, where he will be between June 23 25, with an agenda that includes official meetings with local authorities and participation in a meeting with international students to discuss global issues and the development experience of Timor-Leste.
While in Monaco, the Timorese President will also participate in activities related to environmental sustainability and climate action, organised by the Prince Albert II Foundation.
"In Monaco, we engage with the international community, sharing our journey as a nation and learning from global best practices," said Jos Ramos-Horta.
"These visits exemplify our commitment to active diplomacy in the service of our people's aspirations: development, education and sustainable prosperity," added the Timorese head of state.
