Dani Aswara, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation in South Kalimantan on Sunday, October 6, 2024, as confirmed by Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata.

According to Alex, the sting operation concerned the procurement of goods and services. "It's a procurement-related case," he said when confirmed in a written statement received by Tempo on Monday, October 7, 2024.

According to information obtained by Tempo, KPK arrested six people during this operation, including four state administrators. The six of them were taken to KPK's Red White Building in Jakarta.

They did not arrive at the KPK office at the same time. One person had landed at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 09:55 a.m. Two other people are scheduled to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta Airport at 03:20 p.m., while two others at 06:10 p.m. Meanwhile, one person had reportedly already arrived at KPK.

Alexander Marwata explained that KPK has yet to find a precise solution to eradicate the corruption practices in relation to the procurement of goods and services.

"There is yet an effective solution to eliminate corrupt practices in the procurement of goods and services," he said.

According to Alex, collusions between private entities and state administrators are a common practice in the procurement of goods and services in Indonesia.

Alex also did not disclose any information regarding the institution and parties involved in the sting operation. "The Director of Investigation will provide the details later during the expose," the KPK leader said.
