Ervana Trikarinaputri, Jakarta – The host of Bocor Alus Politik and Tempo journalist Hussein Abri Dongoran reported the vandalism of his vehicle to Jakarta Metro Police on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
"Today, we filed a police report at Jakarta Metro Police regarding the damage to the vehicle, or in this case, the car belonging to Hussein," said Hussein's legal representative, Mustafa, in front of the Samsat Office of Jakarta Metro Police, South Jakarta on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
Two individuals riding a motorcycle damaged the window of Hussein's car which was parked near the Kukusan Police Post in Beji, Depok, West Java, in early September.
The dashboard camera footage in Hussein's car captured the incident happening at 12:05 p.m. on September 3, 2024. The two perpetrators, riding together, were seen passing by after the sound of the collision on the car window. The motorcycle used by the perpetrators did not have a rear number plate. They fled towards Kalibata Srengseng Sawah heading to Jakarta.
Hussein only realized that his car window was damaged after finishing his driver's license document processing at the mobile driver's license service. His car was parked in front of a small eatery on K.H. Usman Street, about ten meters from the Kukusan Police Post.
Around the location, he and the parking attendant found pieces of ceramic spark plugs which were suspected to be used by the perpetrators to damage the right passenger side window.
Hussein and his legal team decided to report this vandalism case to Jakarta Metro Jaya Police as this was the second time his car had been vandalized. "We see a series of attacks against Hussein who is a Tempo journalist and Bocor Alus host at Tempo," said Mustafa.
Previously, a terror incident towards Hussein also occurred on Tuesday night, August 5, 2024. Hussein's car window was also smashed by two individuals riding a motorcycle not far from the official residence of the Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo
Hussein and Tempo representatives have reported this incident to the South Jakarta Police Resort. However, the case remains unresolved until now.
Tempo Editor-in-Chief Setri Yasra condemned the repeated violence against Tempo journalists. He urged the police to investigate this violence and apprehend the perpetrators. "The police must not remain silent, especially since this incident has happened for the second time," said Setri.
