Ilham Oktafian, Yustinus Paat, Jakarta – The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has arrested Ujang Iskandar, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) from the National Democratic Party (Nasdem), at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Friday.

Harli Siregar, the Head of the Legal Information Center at the Attorney General's Office, said that Ujang was arrested in connection with a suspected corruption case in Central Kalimantan.

"He had been summoned several times but failed to comply," Harli said on Friday.

According to Harli, Ujang ignored two summons from the AGO. Subsequently, he was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Friday afternoon.

"After coordinating, our team secured him, and he is currently being examined as a witness," Harli revealed.

Ujang is implicated in a corruption case involving the misuse of capital injection funds for a regional government-owned enterprise (BUMD) in 2009 when he was the Regent of West Kotawaringin.

"The alleged corruption pertains to the misuse of capital injection funds from the West Kotawaringin Regency Government to a regional company Perkebunan Agrotama Mandiri in 2009," Harli said during a phone interview on Friday.

"Yes, it happened when he was still the regent. He might not be aware of the current situation," he added

When asked about the value of the corruption involved, Harli declined to provide further details.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Sahroni, the General Treasurer of the Nasdem Party, expressed his surprise upon hearing the news.

"I just found out about this; I am quite shocked," Sahroni told reporters on Friday.

Sahroni mentioned that he would report the incident to Nasdem Party Chairman Surya Paloh and seek detailed information about the case.
