Antara, Jakarta – The head of the Industrial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDMI) of the Ministry of Industry, Masrokhan, said that Indonesia's industry needs for human resources have reached 682 thousand per year.
He added that the number of graduates that can be produced from the Ministry of Industry's vocational education and training units is still around 6 thousand people per year. Masrokhan made the statement on Thursday at the "2024 Industrial Vocation Fair for Sulawesi Region" in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
He said that the Industry Ministry is fully aware of the important role of human resources in creating a strong and competitive industry. For this reason, the ministry is continuing to bolster and develop vocational education and training programs to produce competent and globally competitive human resources.
Providing vocational education and training aims to meet and anticipate industry needs. Therefore, it is deemed essential to ensure that the human resources provided with such training are compatible with the industrial world, not only at present but also in future industrial development.
He then expressed appreciation for the achievements of vocational high school and polytechnic working units in increasing the absorption of graduates, the number of students, joint publications, student achievements, and partnerships abroad.
He noted that, in keeping with the direction of the Industry Minister, each vocational high school and the polytechnic working unit had been asked to increase student enrolment by 50 percent in 2 years.
The direction also includes shortening the waiting period for graduates to be absorbed into the workforce to 3-4 months while maintaining superior and effective educational quality.
