Hanin Marwah, Jakarta – The Indonesian all-female heavy metal band, Voice of Baceprot or VoB, is set to make history as the first Indonesian musicians ever to perform at the prestigious Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, UK, next month.
The group's debut in 2014 marked the genesis of their journey, with a hijab-wearing troupe of three from Garut, West Java that comprises Firda Marsya Kurnia as the guitarist and vocalist, Widi Rahmawati as the bassist, and Euis Siti Aisyah or Sitti as the drummer.
"It is an honor to be the first Indonesian musician to perform at the Glastonbury Festival (Woodsies Stage) in its 54-year history coinciding with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the UK," VoB expressed their gratitude and excitement on its Instagram on Tuesday, April 30.
Baladceprot, as VoB's fans are known, could watch them perform at the Woodsies Stage, which will also feature renowned musicians, including Gossip and Jamie xx.
Located at Worthy Farm, Pilton-Somerset, Glastonbury is the largest festival in the world to be held on acres of green fields.
The Glastonbury Festival is set to host an array of notable headliners such as Avril Lavigne, Dua Lipa, and Coldplay during the week-long event, which is scheduled to run from June 26 to 30.
At the end of last year, the Voice of Baceprot had successfully completed its tour in 11 cities across the United States. The "Retas American Tour 2023" started in El Cid, LA, on August 3, 2023, and ended in San Diego, California, on August 19, 2023.
