Mutia Yuantisya, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has determined the suspects of corruption in the procurement of equipment for the official residences of the House of Representatives' (DPR) General Secretariat member. The KPK has not yet released their names to the public."I don't know who the suspects are, but we have banned them (from going abroad). This ban means coercive efforts, which means we have determined the suspects," KPK deputy chair Alexander Marwata said at the Merah Putih Building in South Jakarta on Wednesday, March 6.
The KPK slapped an overseas travel ban on seven people in connection with alleged corruption in the procurement of goods and services in the DPR, particularly corruption in procuring goods for official residences of DPR members.
"The KPK imposed the ban to keep them on Indonesian soil. The ban was issued by the Director General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights against seven people, consisting of state officials and private parties," KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said in a written statement on Tuesday, March 5.
Ali said the travel ban was the result of an investigation into a case of alleged corruption in the procurement of equipment for DPR deputies' offices. Ali said the prevention is valid until July to ensure that the parties involved are cooperative and always present at any summons for examination by the KPK investigative team.
