However, the Commander did not explain in detail the date of deployment, including whether it's parallel to the construction of a special military regional command (Kodam) headquarters, an air base, and a marine corp at IKN.
"This year, the transfer of 2,820 TNI personnel has been planned. However, the transfer will depend on the readiness of the buildings in IKN," said Agus Subiyanto on Wednesday.
The transfer plan, Agus said, is according to Presidential Regulation No. 63 of 2022 concerning Details of the IKN Master Plan.
Agus explained that the 2,820 TNI soldiers stationed at IKN will be the first stage of transfer for the 2023-2024 period.
Out of those numbers, there are 578 soldiers from the Army, 793 soldiers from the Navy, 500 soldiers from the Air Force, and 949 soldiers from TNI Headquarters.
The military also plans to station 734 TNI soldiers to serve at the Ministry of Defense for this transfer stage, so the total of personnel transferred to IKN reaches 3,554 soldiers.
Commander Agus Subiyanto also explained that there will be five stages in transferring TNI personnel to IKN. For the second stage in the 2025-2029 period, the total of soldiers transferred will be 22,098 personnel, 15,064 soldiers in the third phase of the 2030-2034 period, 11,131 soldiers in the fourth phase of the 2035-2039 period, and the fifth or final stage in 2040-2045, they will transfer 14,051 soldiers.
Hence, the total number of soldiers estimated to be stationed in IKN until 2045 is 65,898 personnel.
