Daniel A. Fajri, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo or Jokowi inaugurated nine roads in Bolaang Mongondow Regency, North Sulawesi on Friday, February 23, 2024. He hoped that these new roads would boost the local economy.
This ceremonial event was an implementation of the Regional Road Instructions (IJD), as noted by the Press Bureau and Presidential Secretariat.
"We will allocate funds again in 2024 so that the roads in North Sulawesi Province are all good and smooth," the President said as quoted from a written statement.
The government allocated a budget of Rp183 billion from last year's State Budget (APBN) for the construction and repair of these nine roads, which stretch along 59 kilometers.
Jokowi stated that the government would continue to allot funds for infrastructure development in 2024 as part of a long-term commitment to improve the quality of life for people in the area.
The inauguration of this project was expected to improve connectivity and accessibility in the province, opening up greater opportunities for economic growth and community welfare.
Accompanying the President at the inauguration ceremony were Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, SOE Minister Erick Thohir, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, the newly-appointed Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey, and Acting Regent of Bolaang Mongondow Limi Mokodompit.
Jokowi has been on a working visit to Sulawesi since February 21, to inaugurate several infrastructure projects ranging from roads to dams. He was scheduled to return to Jakarta on Friday afternoon, February 23, 2024.
