Jakarta – Chinese automaker Wuling unveiled its latest electric vehicle (EV) model in Indonesia on Friday, called the Binguo EV, boasting an impressive preorder of 3,000 units.
The newly introduced five-door hatchback offers two variants: one equipped with a 31.9 kWh battery providing a range of 333 kilometers on a single charge, and a more potent version featuring a 37.9 kWh battery capable of covering up to 410 kilometers.
Wuling has priced the two variants at Rp 358 million ($23,000) and Rp 408 million ($26,200), respectively.
"The introduction of the Binguo EV underscores Wuling's commitment to fortifying the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia," Wuling Motors Indonesia's Vice Director, Arif Pramadana, said during the launch event in Jakarta.
With dimensions measuring 3.95 meters in length, 1.71 meters in width, and 1.58 meters in height, the Binguo EV arrives as an addition to the Indonesian automotive landscape.
Wuling claimed that 40 percent of the materials used in the Binguo EV are locally sourced, rendering the vehicle eligible for the Indonesian government's EV incentives.
The Binguo EV is expected to follow the successful launch of Wuling's initial EV model in Indonesia, the Air EV, which contributed to nearly 25 percent of the company's overall sales in the country.
In the ten months up to October this year, Wuling has managed to sell approximately 16,600 cars in Indonesia.
