Dicky Kurniawan, Defara Dhanya Paramitha, Jakarta – Chairman of the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli) Budi Setiyadi said that currently, there are three companies that stating their plan to build electric vehicle or EV battery plants in Indonesia. He said that the battery production could be started next year.

"Currently, there are 3 firms that plan to build EV battery plant," said Budi on November 11, 2023.

According to Budi, the price of EV batteries is expected to be lower if they are produced in Indonesia. Therefore, it also will reduce the selling price of electric motorcycles, including the electric motorcycle conversion in the country.

"About at least 30 percent, it will also reduce the conversion cost. Well, hopefully," he said.

Budi also commented on the increased incentive of electric motorcycle conversion from Rp7 million to Rp10 million. He said that the number was more than enough.

"The Rp10 million subsidy is really interesting, as the cost for conversion is still high, especially for the Rp7-Rp8 million battery, the material cost, and other costs," he explained.

Previously, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced the incentive of electric motorcycle conversion from Rp7 million to Rp10 million. Meanwhile, the incentive for new electric motorcycles remains at Rp7 million.
