Tika Ayu, Jakarta – Five representatives of health professional organizations held a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR) regarding the demand for rejection of the deliberation of the Draft Bill on Health.

They are the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI), the Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI), the Indonesian Dentists Association (PDGI), and the Indonesian Pharmacist Association (IAI).

A representative of the organizations was allowed to enter the Parliament Building after two hours of staging a protest outside the building. A spokesperson for the demonstration Beni Satria said their stance does not change during the hearing that they firmly refused to discuss the regulation. "We strongly voice what we voiced on May 8, 2023," he said.

There were also several issues brought up during the hearing. One of them is the health budget. "The points are related to the health budget and the community's right to protection for health services," he added.

The role of health professional organizations is also discussed. According to Beni, the bill should clearly explain the rights of professional organizations. "In advocate professional organizations, notary organizations, architect organizations, all of them have one single organization," he emphasized.

Clearly mentioning the existence of professional organizations in the Health Bill could serve as a guide for the public to obtain legal certainty. "We want to fight for people's rights so that people have certainty of one ethic, one profession is served by instruments that have high ethics and morals," Beni elaborated.

Beni further asserted that all health professional organizations share similar views. "Stop discussing the Health Bill," he said.
