Fani Ramadhani, Jakarta – State oil company Pertamina has decided to raise the price of Pertamax dan Pertamax Turbo gasoline products. Starting March 1, the fuels' selling price had increased to Rp13,000 and Rp15,100 per liter, respectively.

Irto Ginting, corporate secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, said that some of the reasons behind the price hike are the increasing price of crude oil and the rupiah exchange rate.

"Pertamina's fuel prices consider various aspects including crude oil, MOPS (Means of Platts Singapore) publications, and exchange rates," he said in a written statement.

The price adjustments also referred to the MOPS average for the period Jan. 25 to Feb. 24. With this reference, the price increases in each province are different.

"This new price applies to provinces with a 5-percent motor vehicle fuel tax (PBBKB), such as in the DKI Jakarta area," he said.

Pertamina periodically adjusts and determines fuel prices in accordance with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022 on the Basic Price Formulas in Calculating Retail Selling Prices for General Fuel Types of Fuel and Diesel Oil.

Despite the hike, Irto ensures that the price of fuel at Pertamina is still cheaper than other private-run gas stations.

"Pertamina's product prices are still the most competitive compared to other companies, and these prices have met the upper limit provisions for March 2023 set for each type of fuel," he said.

The following are the new prices of fuel as of March 1, 2023.

1. Pertamax (RON 92): raised to Rp13,300 per liter
2. Pertamax Turbo (RON 98): raised to Rp15,100 per liter
3. Pertamina Dex: raised to Rp15,850 per liter
4. Dexlite: lowered to Rp14,950 per liter.

Unlike Pertamax, the prices of Solar diesel and Pertalite gasoline have not changed, kept at Rp10,000 per liter and Rp6,800 per liter.
