Moh. Khory Alfarizi, Jakarta – Online taxi drivers who are members of the Online Driver Coalition (Kado) planned to hold a demonstration on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) Building. In the invitation received by Tempo, more than 1,000 will join the action.

"We, Kado, bring three demands," said the Indonesian Rental Fleet Association (PAS) Wiwit Sudarsono via a text message on Monday night, September 19, 2022.

He explained that as a long-term demand, online taxi drivers urge the ratification of the online transportation bill in the 2022 National Legislation Program (Prolegnas). "From previously listed in the 2023 Prolegnas," he said.

As the medium-term demand, drivers ask the House to pass the online transportation bill into law and to push three ministries, viz. the Transportation Ministry, the Communication and Information Ministry, and the Manpower Ministry to issue a joint decree or SKB.

"To improve the online transportation business ecosystem, while waiting for the online transportation bill to be passed," said Wiwit.

In addition, online transportation drivers hope that the DPR can push the ride-hailing application service providers to sign a platform fee agreement of 10 percent.

Wiwit went on to say that the protest is staged based on Law No. 9/1998 on expressing opinions in public. The action will be held starting at 09:00 Jakarta time until it is finished.

"[Other than online taxi drivers,. online ojek drivers will join the rally," he added, calling on online transportation drivers to fight together for their independence.
