Strip yourselves of all common sense and you might end up at the level of these educators in Indonesia, who are in trouble for staging an undressing competition for their primary school students.

As children head back to school for the new academic year this week, public elementary school Uwung Jaya in Tangerang began with an orientation day on Monday.

Among the many activities that day, the school thought that one way to teach little kids the concept of self-determination was to have them race to undress and get dressed at the school yard in front of each other and their teachers.

The students' parents were outraged upon learning about the competition, and filed a complaint with the Tangerang Education Agency.

"Introducing the school [to students] must involve activities that are beneficial, educational, creative, and fun. [Uwung Jaya] violated this, so we have given a stern warning to its principal," Tangerang Education Agency Head Jamalludin said yesterday.

It's not clear who at the school thought up the horrific idea, yet it seems there won't be any real punishment for anyone involved beyond the warning.

The incident prompted condemnation from the Commission for the Protection of Indonesian Children (KPAI), who said there are more productive ways to go about school orientation.

Tangerang City Council Chairman Gatot Wibowo was also outraged, calling the competition "an embarrassment" for the school and its supervisory bodies.
