Antara, Jakarta – The Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly in a written statement on Thursday said the country's Second Home Visa provides the opportunity for foreign nationals, which include the elderly, to reside in Indonesia.

He mentioned this during the dissemination of the latest Indonesian citizenship and immigration policies at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in San Francisco, the United States of America.

"Second home visa gives a chance for foreigners, including the elderly people, who plan to settle in Indonesia," said the Minister on June 30, Antaranews reported.

The Minister mentioned that the Job Creation Law (UU Cipta Kerja) contains several policies specially formulated for the tasks and functions of the Law and Human Rights Ministry, including the existence of private companies as a new legal entity and the aforementioned visa.

Second-home visas can be used by foreigners planning to spend their retirement to stay in Indonesia and foreign nationals that are not accommodated by other types of available visas.

However, those planning to apply for this visa must meet certain requirements, especially in the sense of providing a positive contribution to Indonesia's economic growth.

Echoing the Minister's statement, the Ministry's director of immigration and residence permit, Pramella Yunidar Pasaribu, said it also accommodates visa services and residence permits at the discretion of former Indonesian citizens (WNI) who will return to live in the country.

"It is also meant to take the role as facilitator for the national economic development," Pramella said.
