M Rosseno Aji, Jakarta – Antigraft watchdog Indonesia Memanggil 57 or IM57 Institute urged the Supervisory Council of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to seriously deal with reports about its senior official Lili Pintauli Siregar who allegedly received gratification while watching 2022 MotoGP at Mandalika.

IM57 assessed that the allegation must not be taken lightly as the latter had been proven to have violated a serious code of ethics.

"Repeated criminal acts result in a heavier sentence," said IM57 chairman Praswad Nugraha in a written statement, Tuesday, April 12.

Moreover, he added, Lili serves as the deputy chair in the law enforcement agency.

"If the report on the violation is proven to be true, then the Council must consider it as a repeated act and the sanction must be a dismissal of Lily as one of the KPK leaders," he said.

According to him, severe punishment needs to be taken in order to prove the KPK's ethical standards and to improve the public trust in the national anti-corruption agency.

Permissive actions of the Council, he went on, would only damage the mentality of KPK employees. It is feared that they would follow the illicit steps of their leaders who were suspected of violating ethics several times.

The KPK's Supervisory Council received a report on the alleged graft involving Lili related to the Mandalika MotoGP event. The Council member Harjono claimed his side was still investigating the case.

Lili and the KPK's spokesperson have yet to respond to Tempo's request regarding the reports until date.

Previously reported, the KPK's Supervisory Council found the KPK deputy chair Lili Pintauli Siregar guilty of an ethics breach for keeping in close contact with inactive Tanjungbalai mayor M. Syahrial who was under KPK's investigation. However, the Council only handed down a light punishment in the form of a salary cut.
