Dewi Nurita, Jakarta – The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) released a report entitled 'Indonesia Strong, Indonesia Grows 2021' on Wednesday, 20 October. In the report, there is a chapter on efforts to resolve human rights violations. It said that the government continues to seek settlement of human rights violations.
"In truth, the government never stops trying to resolve human rights violations in a dignified manner. Civil rights, political rights, economic, social and cultural rights must be protected in a balanced manner – with no aspects neglected," KSP said in a report quoted by Tempo, Thursday, October 21.
The KSP then said that such efforts were realized by issuing the National Action Plan for Human Rights 2021-2025.
"In the next five years, the 2021-2025 National Action Plan for Human Rights in Presidential Decree No. 53/2021 can be executed. The promotion of human rights for women, children, persons with disabilities and indigenous peoples is the focus," KSP stated.
The Office also claims that the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government respects freedom of expression. It included data from the Press Council on the National Press Freedom Index, which showed an increase from 75.27 percent in 2020 to 76.02 percent in 2021.
However, unlike KSP's claims, there are still many cases of human rights violations that have no clear resolution, such as the cases of May 1998, Semanggi I, Semanggi II, and Munir's murder among others.
It is worth noting that the report is launched exactly on the date of the second year of President Joko Widodo's term with Ma'ruf Amin as his vice.
