Adam Prireza, Jakarta – Trisakti University public policy expert Trubus Rahardiansyah on Friday commented on the controversy regarding state officials and their relatives who allegedly received COVID-19 vaccine booster shots, which he deemed counterproductive, as they should be exclusively given to healthcare workers.
"It seems something is not right," said Trubus on Friday, September 10. "The problem is whether the government is brave enough to [stop this]? Considering state officials are receiving these booster shots."
He said the law must be enforced on groups of people who were adamant in getting vaccine booster shots despite not being healthcare workers. He believed the government had not taken considerable actions to prevent this from happening.
The alleged truth behind this came about after the co-initiator of LaporCovid-19, Ahmad Arif, in a virtual discussion on September 8 said state officials and high ranking law enforcers along with their families were given vaccine booster shots in secret at an office facility located in Sudirman, Central Jakarta.
Moreover, Ahmad Arif highlighted the disparity of this situation considering people outside of Java Island were having difficulties in accessing COVID-19 vaccines.
