M Rosseno Aji, Jakarta – The Indonesian anti-corruption community (MAKI) and the Law Enforcement Monitoring Institute (LP3HI) filed a lawsuit against House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani at the Jakarta State Administrative Court (PTUN).

The DPR Speaker was sued over the alleged acts against the law in the selection process of Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) candidates.

"This lawsuit is filed against DPR Speaker in the selection process of BPK leader candidates that are believed to not meet requirements," said MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman on Tuesday, August 10.

Boyamin argued that Puan Maharani issued the official DPR Speaker letter No. PW/09428/DPR RI/VII/2021 on July 15 to Regional Representative Council (DPD) leaders on the 16 BPK candidates. Out of the 16 people considered, he believed two of them; Nyoman Adhi Suryadnyana and Harry Z. Soeratin, had not qualified.

Boyamin believed that the two men should not have progressed over the selection process as it goes against Law No. 15/2006 Article 13 on BPK, which requires candidates to leave their position in a financial management environment for at least 2 years.
