Dewi Nurita, Antara, Jakarta – Legal adviser to Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Otto Hasibuan, rebuffed the statement made by the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) that his client promoted ivermectin as a Covid-19 therapeutic drug. He said no concrete facts were disclosed about the allegations.

"That's just what people say, where is the evidence that Moeldoko promotes ivermectin?" said Otto in a press conference held virtually in Jakarta, Thursday, July 29.

The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) said Moeldoko was affiliated with Sofia Koswara, the Vice President of ivermectin producer PT Harsen Laboratories. The anti-graft watchdog also mentioned that Moeldoko's daughter, Joanina Rachman, was the majority shareholder in PT Noorpay Nusantara Perkasa where Sofia acted as the director.

"That's why I asked ICW to prove it. Like me, my colleagues in Peradi and many look for ivermectin. Every time they met clients, they always talked about ivermectin and actually consumed it and got healed," Otto said.

He underlined Moeldoko had never been in ads persuading people to consume the anti-parasitic drug. "Moeldoko, both personally and as Presidential Chief of Staff, has no affiliation with PT Noorpay," Otto added.

According to Otto, ICW's statement seemed to deliberately shape public opinion. Thus, as Moeldoko's attorney, he filed a subpoena against ICW and its researcher Egi Primayogha to prove their accusations within 24 hours.
