Yudha Baskoro, Jakarta – The daily number of Covid-19 burials at Rorotan Public Cemetery in Cilincing, North Jakarta has dropped to below 100 in recent days. The grim view of ambulances waiting in queue for the funeral is no longer seen.

This is in sharp contrast to the hectic situation in early July when the three-hectare burial ground received between 100 and 200 bodies every day.

Jakarta is the epicenter of the Indonesian outbreak and currently home to 25 percent of confirmed cases nationwide. The capital city along with all other provinces in Java imposed a three-week Covid-19 lockdown on July 3 and it was later extended to Sunday.Indonesia has seen daily Covid-19 death toll top 1,000 over the past week, the deadliest period since the pandemic started.
