Antara, Jakarta – Jakarta's need for health workers continues to increase in line with the high number of Covid-19 cases in the capital city. Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said the capital city still requires 2,156 healthcare workers and 5,139 vaccinators to contain the pandemic.
"[We are] adding more health workers," said Riza at the City Hall, Tuesday, June 29.
Riza added that the Provincial Government will continue to increase the number of health workers and improve facilities so that patients who tested positive for the coronavirus disease can be treated properly.
"We will add everything, namely referral hospitals, bed capacity, and also health workers, ICU rooms, laboratories, vitamins, medicines, masks," said Riza.
However, the Gerindra politician reminded the public not to neglect the health protocols even though the facilities have been increased. He underlined that the best way to suppress this virus is to prevent its transmission.
"To tackle [the virus] from upstream, we ask all residents to stay at home and implement the health protocols in a disciplined and strict manner, let alone there is now a new variant that spreads very quickly," Riza said.
Jakarta still records a high number of Covid-19 cases. As of Tuesday, June 29, 7,379 new cases were found over the past 24 hours. The death toll also increased by 78.
