Jakarta Globe, Jakarta – Lippo Karawaci, one of Indonesia's largest property developers, has opened a mass vaccination center at Senayan Park Jakarta, or Spark, to support the self-funded vaccination campaign.

First initiated by the Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), the so-called "gotong royong" vaccination campaign allows companies to procure Covid-19 shots for their own employees.

Registered employees can get their Covid-19 jab at Spark Jakarta, which is expected to inoculate up to 1,000 people a day. Siloam Hospitals have also readied their health workers to serve at the vaccination center.

Since its initial launch on May 19, around 1,574 employees from 52 companies have gotten their gotong royong shots at Spark Jakarta as of May 24.

According to Lippo Karawaci chief executive officer John Riady, the gotong royong program will help create herd immunity in the work area.

"The massive vaccination can spur recovery in various sectors, in a bid to restore the national economy," John said in a statement on Thursday.

"We are also calling for all hospitals across Indonesia to join and become a place to hold the gotong royong vaccination program," the Siloam president commissioner added.

Lippo Karawaci, via Siloam and Lippo Malls Indonesia, are also rolling out Covid-19 shots in 62 different locations across the archipelago. Out of that number, half are held at Siloam hospitals, while others are at LMI-operated shopping centers.

"As of the third week of May 2021, Siloam has vaccinated more than 111,000 people, including health workers, senior citizens, teachers, civil servants, MSMEs and other professions," John said.
