Antara, Jakarta – Tourism workers are among the people prioritized to receive Covid-19 vaccines, as the Indonesian government seeks to rejuvenate its tourism, which has slumped since the coronavirus arrived in the archipelago last year.

Tourism workers in 10 cities can apply for a drive-through vaccination service through apps.

Indonesia's Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said tourism workers can register for the vaccination through several health applications, including Alodokter, Homecare24, and Medithru.

The apps provide drive-thru vaccination services for tourism workers and people above 60 years old in ten cities.

The 10 areas included in the program are Pondok Indah, Kemang Village, and GKI Surya Utama in Jakarta; Lake Toba in North Sumatra; Borobudur Temple in Magelang, Central Java; and Jogja International Expo-City, Yogyakarta. Other areas are still being scheduled.

The areas are selected based on which have the biggest access to elderlies and tourism workers.
