Imam Hamdi, Jakarta – The Jakarta Ombudsman Head Teguh Nugroho stressed that a request for the Covid-19 vaccination for families of the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) members is against the technical guidance issued by the Health Ministry.

"The council's request for a vaccine for their families violates the technical guidelines," said Teguh on Monday, March 8.

The technical guidelines, he added, noted the stages of vaccination based on the priority recommended by the World Health Organization or WHO. In the first stage, vaccination is prioritized for health workers, followed by elderly people, traders, to public service officials.

Teguh said the vaccination process must be carried out in accordance with the stages and priorities. Health workers and the elderly are prioritized as they are the most vulnerable to coronavirus exposure.

According to Teguh, the council's family members could receive vaccines if they are elderly or health workers. Otherwise, they must wait patiently since the government's vaccine supply is limited.

If the Jakarta Health Agency approves the request, the Ombudsman will immediately investigate it. "That's maladministration."

Previously, Jakarta DPRD Acting Secretary Hadameon Aritonang said the request was still being processed. It was first conveyed by the DPRD speaker Prasetio Edi Marsudi. However, it has not been approved yet as the Covid-19 vaccination is prioritized for legislators and state civil servants at the DPRD Secretariat.
