Nadiem Makarim calls for university students to join 'kampus mengajar' program

Tempo - February 11, 2021

Rini Kustiani, Jakarta – Education and Culture Minister Nadiem Makarim launched the Kampus Mengajar or Teaching Campus program as part of the Merdeka Belajar (Freedom Campus) policy along with the Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) on Tuesday, February 9.

The program allowed university students to teach elementary school students for 12 weeks or three months in the outermost, frontline, and disadvantaged regions (3T regions) affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nadiem emphasized that universities and lecturers should support their students to join the program and facilitate the conversion of their semester credit system or SKS for the program.

"This is an opportunity for students to study outside the campus in line with the Freedom Campus policy," said Nadiem Makarim as quoted from the ministry's official website on Wednesday, February 10. The Teaching Campus program is equal to 12 college credits.

In this program, university students would teach six hours a day for one semester. Those who join the program would receive money allowances and tuition assistance from the LPDP. The registration was open from February 9-21, 2021, via https://kampusmerdeka.kemdikbud.go.id
