Joniansyah (Contributor), Tangerang – Tangerang Regency Government has allowed several entertainment venues and tourist attractions to reopen after months-long closure during the Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
Regent Ahmed Zaki Iskandar confirmed that only movie theaters and outdoor playgrounds are permitted to operate. "But with a maximum capacity of 30 percent," he said on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020.
Zaki underlined that business actors should adhere to the health protocols correctly and strictly given that the regency is still classified as the orange zone or at medium-risk of coronavirus transmission.
The number of Covid-19 patients is also high as hospital beds are almost fully occupied. "The regency administration keeps striving to drop the number of positive cases," said Zaki.
According to him, the restriction was loosened because the regional government mulled over the request of entertainment and tourism business players by reviewing the condition and the location of the venues.
"So we are sorry that those located in Covid-19-prone districts and pose a high risk of virus spread are not permitted to operate yet," Zaki said.
Tangerang Regency Secretary Moch. Maesyal Rasyid added that other entertainment places, such as bars, karaoke lounges, massage parlors, indoor playgrounds, swimming pools, and others, have not been granted permission as these sites are most prone to Covid-19 transmission.
