Jakarta sees spike in COVID-19 burials in November

Lani Diana Wijaya, Jakarta – Jakarta provincial government recorded a total of 9,085 burials based on the COVID-19 protocol from March 4 until December 2, 2020.

The city's official page corona.jakarta.go.id noted the rise in the funeral trend since the end of March 2020. The rate fluctuated from June until mid-August and jumped again from August's end until September.

The highest number of people buried under Covid protocol was recorded at 72 on September 25. Throughout October, the rate fluctuated, yet rising in November with the highest rate at 62 bodies on November 30.

Jakarta Head of Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Health Agency, Dwi Oktavia, reported that the total number of deaths until December 2 hit 2,710.

Meanwhile, 126,163 patients made recoveries and 10,212 were under treatment or perform independent isolation. As of Dec. 2, Jakarta has 139,085 COVID-19 confirmed cases.

"The recovery rate is 90.7 percent and the death rate is 1.9 percent," said Dwi in a written statement on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020.
