Antara, Jakarta – The Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) building was closed for five days starting today, July 29 until August 2, 2020, after a legislator and staffers were found positive of contracting COVID-19. The building was scheduled to be sterilized with disinfectant.

The closure was announced via a letter inked by the Jakarta DPRD speaker Prasetio Edi Marsudi addressing the leaders and members of the city legislative.

"In an effort to cut the chain of COVID-19 transmission and comply with the health protocols, Jakarta DPRD building will be closed and disinfected," said Prasetio in a letter that Tempo received in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 28.

In the letter, all work agendas and activities in the legislative and the secretariat would also be stopped for five days.

"All agendas and activities of the DPRD will be resumed on Monday, August 3, 2020," he added. Scheduled events would be reset through the Council's Steering Committee (Bamus).
