Bayu Marhaenjati, Jakarta – A Metro TV journalist who was recently found dead in Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, was a murder victim, police confirmed on Saturday.

The body of Yodi Prabowo was found in the ditch near Jalan Ulujami Raya on Friday, lying down on his belly while still wearing helmet and shoes next to a wall of the nearby toll road.

"Autopsy results from the Police Hospital suggest that the time of the death was two or three days before his decomposing body was discovered near the toll road," Jakarta Police spokesman Chief Comr. Yusri Yunus said in a news conference.

"We also found incised wounds on the victim's neck and chest, as well as blunt force trauma on his neck," he added.

Jakarta Police Chief Insp. Gen. Nana Sudjana has ordered the criminal investigation unit to form a special team on the murder case, he said.

"We have questioned 12 witnesses, including his relatives and people who had close ties with the victim," Yusri said.

Police dismissed robbery as the motive for murder, because the victim's personal belongings remained with him, including his wallet, cellphone and scooter.

A kitchen knife, believed to the murder weapon, was found at the scene, the officer said.

A second crime scene investigation was conducted on Saturday, with police deploying a K-9 dog to search more evidence.

Yodi, 26, has worked as visual editor with the news broadcaster for four and a half years.

He last appeared at the office on Tuesday, when he worked until around 10.30 p.m., Metro TV Chief Editor Don Bosco Selamun said on Friday. He has since gone missing when the broadcaster contacted the family, he said.

"We ask the police to investigate the case thoroughly and arrest the murderer – if this is a murder case," Don said.
