Andita Rahma, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) highlighted today, June 18, the potential conflict of interest in the government's pre-employment card program.

This was discovered since the partnership with eight digital platforms did not base on the mechanism for the procurement of the government's goods and products.

The anti-graft body's deputy chairman, Alexander Marwata, suspected that five out of the eight digital platforms had a conflict of interest. "As many as 250 of 1,895 available training programs also have a conflict of interest," said Alex in a press conference on Thursday, June 18.

Additionally, the KPK discovered issues on the registration. The Manpower Ministry and the Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan), Alex explained, had compiled data of laid-off workers and had checked their citizen identity number (NIK) which amounted to 1.7 million people.

"But in reality, only a few of those people made the registration online, or 143,000 people. While the majority of registrants, or 9.4 million people, are not the program's target," Alex noted.

Moreover, KPK assessed that the face recognition feature in the pre-employment card program that worth up to Rp30.8 billion was ineffective.

"It is an exaggeration to install a face recognition feature. If the participant's NIK is right, all his/her data will be revealed instantly," added the KPK's deputy for enforcement, Pahala Nainggolan, in the same event.
