Halida Bunga, Jakarta – President Joko Widodo, or Jokowi, has just ratified the Presidential Decree overseeing the governance work and organizing leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
According to the copy of the decree Tempo obtained, employees of the anti-corruption watchdog comprising; secretariat, deputy, and inspectorate, are organizationally deemed an extended organ of KPK leaders. Their function and tasks are mentioned in the Decree's Article 3 (1) and (2):
"(1) The corruption eradication commission's organizing leadership is formed to support the leaders of the corruption eradication commission in conducting their task and authority. (2) The organizing leadership of the corruption eradication commission is overseen by and its responsibility is to the leaders of the organization."
Article 6 of the second chapter of the Decree elaborates KPK's organizational structure which consists of; secretary-general, deputy of prevention, deputy of enforcement, deputy of monitoring and supervision, deputy of information and data, deputy of coordination and public complaints, and an inspectorate general.
From what is mentioned in Article 6 above, there are two new positions within KPK; deputy of coordination and public complaints and the inspectorate general. The latter position is explicitly mentioned to directly be responsible to report to the KPK leaders and is a supervising body.
