Friski Riana, Jakarta – Presidential Palace spokesman Fadjroel Rachman confirmed that President Jokowi would not issue a government regulation in lieu of law (Perpu) to revoke the revised Corruption Eradication Commission Law (KPK Law).

"There will be no such a thing. A Perpu is no longer needed. A law already exists in the form of Law No. 19/2019," said Fadjroel at the Presidential Palace Complex on Friday, November 29.

This outcome is in contrast with what the president announced early November. Then, President Jokowi assured he would not issue the KPK Perpu to respect the Constitutional Court's (MK) legal process regarding the law that was still afoot.

"As we see, there is still a material test at the Constitutional Court. We must respect that process," said the President at the Merdeka Palace on Friday, November 1, 2019.

Following the revision, the KPK Law was tested at the MK after it was submitted by 190 university students from multiple universities and members of the general public. The court verdict on Thursday stated that the lawsuit would no longer be continued due to "wrong object or error".
