Iqbal Tawakal Lazuardi, Jakarta – West Java Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Trunoyudo announced that the policeman who gave liquor to a group of Papua university students in Bandung was under the scrutiny of the police's internal affairs division (Propam).

The policeman in question, a commissioner, has undergone extensive investigation since Thursday night, August 22.

"The person is undergoing questioning by the West Java Police and is internally considered as [a possible suspect]," said Trunoyudo in the West Java Police headquarters in Bandung on Friday.

According to him, the police commissioner responsible for handing out the liquor is a member of the Bandung City Police with initials "SC" and is a Papuan-descent.

"What he did was not representing the National Police institution, but rather personally motivated," he explained.

Previous reports suggested that the Papuan Student Association in Bandung refused two packs of liquor delivered by two police officers. A student named Miles C. Jikwa said the police officers sent the liquor Topi Koboi to the secretariat office in Cilaki, Bandung, Thursday, August 22.

According to Miles, the drinks were given when he and other students held a solidarity event in Gedung Sate, Bandung City. Miles claimed to have been shocked when the officers came to deliver two packs of liquor, rice, and instant noodles to his office.
