Jakarta – Indonesia's largest business lobby and the country's top public relations association have agreed to strengthen ties and spread a message of optimism to boost the nation's image abroad and support the government's vision for the future.

"Public relations experts have a responsibility to help position and narrate for organizations. There have been many changes in the Industry 4.0 era, and it is time to build collaboration and cooperation between associations and reassess public-relations strategies in the associations' respective business areas," Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman Rosan Roeslani Rosan said after a meeting with Agung Laksamana, chairman of the Public Relations Association of Indonesia (Perhumas), in Jakarta on Thursday.

He added that companies and organizations needed a shared perspective on the concept of public relations.

The Kadin chairman also expressed his appreciation for the public relations movement's #IndonesiaBicaraBaik campaign, saying it served as a catalyst for the "optimistic narrative" they are trying to build.

"We very much appreciate the support Kadin has given us and hope to work with other industries to maximize our efforts," Agung said.

He added that Perhumas was ready to assist Kadin to actively promote business growth and help build the country's reputation.

The two organizations also discussed the upcoming 2019 National Public Relations Convention, which will take place in Yogyakarta on Dec. 16-17. The theme of the convention will be "Local Wisdom – Global Solutions."
