Mario Sofia Nasution, Padang – National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) Principle Secretary Nofrijal says that the sexual disease of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) is the main enemy of development and is calling on regional heads to fight against it.
"This sexual deviation also violates religious regulations and weakens us in benefiting from the demographic bonus", he said in the West Sumatran city of Padang on Monday June 3.
He added that a strong commitment is needed on the part of regional heads to fight against LGBT. LGBT is a disease which must be cured by correct and sustained methods.
Nofrijal said that the percentage of LGBT sufferers in West Sumatra is quite high and he wants this to be given mutual attention both by governments, the public, society and the family.
"Special regulations are needed to cope with this together, perhaps through regional government regulations so that there is a commitment to ensure that LGBT can be controlled", he continued.
According to Nofrijal the key role of the family in bring up children is vital in the formation of children that do not suffer from sexual abnormalities so parents must understand and know what kind of attitudes must be imparted to children so that they refrain from this abnormality.
"Under the BKKBN's program there is a program to prevent the occurrence of sexual deviation and parents must master this in bringing up their children", he said.
Nofrijal explained that there are five latent dangers to reproductive health which can have fatal consequences for adolescents, namely underage marriage, indulging in sexually deviant behaviour, using drugs, being addicted to pornography and pornographic activities and being infected with HIV AIDS or other dangerous sexually transmitted diseases.
"The younger generation has the right to be safeguarded by the government and society to they have an obligation to safe them", he said.
