Antara, Jakarta – State-owned weapons manufacturer PT Pindad is eyeing to generate Rp12.7 trillion from contracts and sales for 2019.
"The goal this year is pretty significant and our goal is to reach a Rp7 trillion contract with sales almost reaching Rp5.7 trillion. Which we are eyeing on a net profit of Rp145 billion," said Pindad President Director Abraham Mose on Thursday, March 21, in Karawang, West Java.
He then said that last year's goal of Rp5.6 trillion was realized on sales up to Rp3.9 trillion and a net profit of Rp100.5 billion mainly from ammunition products and sniper rifles opening up to large market internationally.
"Our product at the moment that is starting to be popular is the sniper rifle, the demand for this is overwhelming," said Abraham.
He argues that the rise in sales of Pindad produced sniper rifles in ASEAN is mainly because the products were proven in the field. Other Pindad products with increasing amounts of demand include medium-sized tanks.
