Stefanno Reinard Sulaiman, Jakarta – State energy giant Pertamina has lowered its non-subsidized fuel price by up to Rp 250 (1.8 US cents) per liter, following the declining trend of the global oil price and strengthening rupiah against the United States Dollar.

Under the new policy, the new price for Pertalite in the Greater Jakarta is Rp 7,650 per liter, Pertamax Rp 10,200 per liter, Pertamax Turbo Rp 12,000 per liter, Dex diesel fuel Rp 11,750 per liter and Dexlite diesel fuel Rp 10,300 per liter.

Pertamina CEO Nieke Widyawati said the price adjustment was conducted based on the existing mechanism and regulation. "We have been coordinating with related institutions to give the best services for our customers," she said.

Pertamina retail marketing director Mas'ud Khamid said in a press statement on Friday afternoon that the adjustment would come into effect starting Saturday.

"The new prices will be adjusted on Jan. 5 at 12 am. [...] We will continue to evaluate the fuel prices periodically in accordance with the trend of global crude price and the rupiah exchange rate in the global market," he said.

Pertamina further said that in some regions the adjustment could be different as a result of regional fuel taxes. (yan)
