Andika Dwi (Kyiv Independent), Jakarta – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone call with Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto on March 18, after the former general claimed victory in the February 14 election.

As reported by Kyiv Independent, Zelensky congratulated Prabowo on his success in the election and expressed hope for continued mutually beneficial bilateral relations.

Zelensky also invited Prabowo to attend the Global Peace Summit slated to be held in Switzerland in the coming months.

"It was in Indonesia in 2022 that I presented the Peace Formula," Zelensky said, mentioning the 10-point peace plan at the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, in November 2022.

He said that Indonesia has a potential role in implementing the points of the peace formula regarding food security and nuclear security, as well as prisoner exchanges.

"We are now preparing for the inaugural peace summit, and Indonesia's participation in it is of fundamental importance to us. I have invited them to take part in the summit and implement the points on food and nuclear security, as well as the exchange of prisoners of war," the Ukrainian President concluded.

Russia-Ukraine peace proposal

Serving as Indonesian Defense Minister, Prabowo had once proposed a peaceful solution to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The solution is known as the Russia-Ukraine Peace Proposal, which was presented at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore in June 2023.

In response, Ukrainian Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov said on June 2, 2023, that his side dismissed the proposal, calling it a strange proposal.

"It sounds like a Russian plan, not an Indonesian plan," he said, as reported by Ukrinform.net. "We don't need this mediator coming to us with this strange plan."
